Despite the rains on Wednesday, November 4, 2009, many Dominicans turned out around the island for the annual “Community Day of Service”. The day was set aside in 1981 by the then Dame Eugenia Charles administration to bring Dominicans all over the island out to lend a help in hand in volunteer work on a project in their community. Back then many of the projects were focused on beautification projects, footpath construction, bus stand construction and road projects. Over the past few years, there has been a shift to predominantly road projects. Staff of the Government Information Service went out to capture the moment across the island. Here are the pictorial representation of some of the projects in the Valley, South West, South and South East of the island.
