Dominica could soon host a high level delegation of policy makers and investors from the oil rich Republic of Azerbaijan.
Hon Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit, and Dominica’s Ambassador to the United Nations, H.E. Vince Henderson, just ended a three day visit to Azerbaijan in which they signalled to the Euro – Asian state that Dominica was open for business.
Prime Minister Skerrit met with both the Prime Minister and president and spoke of the potential for investment in water resource management and marketing.
The trade and investment delegation that has been invited to follow up high level talks will explore public/private sector partnerships in water procurement, packaging and marketing as well as Dominica’s geothermal potential.
The commonwealth of Dominica and Azerbaijan established diplomatic relations in March 2011 and to date both countries have expressed a willingness to develop meaningful cultural and economic ties.
The trade and investment mission to Dominica from Azerbaijan is expected to be led by a senior member of the Azerbaijan cabinet of ministers and should take place in the last quarter of this year. |
