Miss Dominica 2011, Jacintha Fagan
Contestants competed in five rounds: costume, talent, swimsuit, evening wear and question and answer.
Miss Fagan’s costume resembled that of a pink water lily exploring the theme “Dream of Rockaway”, a former water theme park down at Canefield. Her costume was designed by Jeff Coipel and built by Creative Dynamics and Friends. Her performing talent was entitled “Colour, you are on the air”, a drama that portrayed prayers to God from citizens including she, Jacintha who prayed for peace, love and unity among the rising crime in Dominica.
National Bank of Dominica sponsored the talent round of the costume round of the show giving an award to the winner of the best costume which went to Nasha Faustin. Her costume, built Creative Dynamics and Friends and designed by Alwin Bully was based on the theme ‘Bird of Paradise’. The Bird of Paradise is considered one of the most extraordinary of the exotic plants and flower which blooms as a closed pod that explodes in a succession of petals with Nasha herself being the Bird of Paradise flower. Here is Nasha in all her splendour as she moves about on stage after a description of her costume.
A picture album follows this story where the rounds were catalogued for later viewing.
First runner up of the Miss Dominica pageant went to Earlene Labassiere, sponsored by Malcolm Stevens and Sons. Miss Labassiere also received the award for Best in Swimwear and Best Evening Wear.
