Fellow Dominicans,
The Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica wishes to extend warmest compliments to all Dominican organizations and nationals residing overseas.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry, Consumer and Diaspora Affairs has commenced circulation of the Draft Diaspora Policy Paper. This will also be the subject for discussion during the annual Diaspora dialogue for visiting Dominicans during this year’s independence celebration.
The intention is to allow persons to familiarise themselves with the contents of the document and provide meaningful feedback which can be incorporated in the final draft to be sent to Cabinet.
The Draft Policy Paper is influenced by a proposal presented to the Government by the Dominica Association of Arts and Sciences and the National and Sectoral Policies adopted by the Government over the last three years. Among these are the Growth and Social protection Strategy, approved in 2005 and reviewed in 2008, the Tourism Policy, the Agriculture Policy, The Gender Policy and the Investment Policy, still under review.
The principle objective of the Diaspora Policy is to formalize Government’s strategy for fully integrating our overseas based nationals in Dominica’s socio-economic development.
The Draft Policy Paper (pdf) can also be accessed electronically on the Government’s websites at www.dominica.gov.dm or www.gis.dominica.gov.dm
All Dominican overseas organizations are advised to discuss the Draft Paper and select representatives who will be visiting during this period to attend this important Dialogue. Comments and/or suggestions may be submitted electronically to foreigntrade@cwdom.dm or mailed to; The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Trade, Industry, Consumer and Diaspora Affairs, Financial Centre 4th Floor, Roseau, and Commonwealth of Dominica.
